The government has announced the following revisions to the Apprenticeship Grant for Employers (AGE):
- Instead of two payments of £750 at eight weeks and one year there will be one payment of £1,500 once the apprentice has been in employment for 13 week
- The grant is being extended to mid-sized businesses with up to 1,000 employees
- Increased the number of grants an employer can apply for from three to 10
- Relaxed the rule that stated that if an employer had employed an apprentice in the last three years they were not eligible.
